I’m Paulisa Scarlett, MBA—an educator who’s spent over a decade helping teens build real-world skills that actually matter. Most of my career has been out in rural Alaska, working with secondary students, teachers, and families in some of the state’s most unique and creative communities.
Snow Owl Learning Pod grew from a simple idea: give homeschooled middle and high schoolers a place to learn business, tech, and life skills in a way that’s practical, personal, and engaging. I’ve led everything from grant programs and curriculum design to career education and classroom teaching, and I’m certified as both a business education teacher and principal. Over the years, I’ve helped hundreds of students earn industry-recognized credentials—especially in Microsoft Office, business, and financial literacy.
I know how important hands-on, skills-based learning is, especially in rural Alaska where real opportunities can feel far away. I love working with young people, connecting big ideas to everyday life, and making learning something students actually look forward to.
When I’m not leading a class or building a new workshop, you’ll probably find me hiking, reading, or collaborating with other rural educators to open new doors for Alaska’s youth.
I’m excited to work with your family, and to help your learner soar.

Snow Owl Learning Pod is a new resource for Alaska’s homeschooling families, offering small group, online classes in essential life and career skills for grades 6 through 12.
Every class is designed with the needs of Alaska's diverse, independent learners in mind. Our courses go beyond textbooks—students practice real workplace tools, tackle hands-on projects, and build skills they’ll actually use. With small class sizes and live instruction, learners get personal attention, encouragement, and meaningful feedback.
Why “Snow Owl?” Like Alaska’s snowy owls, homeschoolers are adaptable, curious, and always learning—no matter where they land.
Our Mission:
To help homeschool students build the confidence, skills, and knowledge they need for high school, college, and beyond—while honoring the independence and resourcefulness that set Alaska’s home educators apart.
